Liverpool's Star Offers Regret to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the group of players in the wake of the fallout from his recent interview.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and suggesting his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has refused to disclose on whether he got an explanation from the 33-year-old forward.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
The midfielder also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is a positive trait. “I understand there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s concerning.”
Positive Results
Their results have been impressive in the period after the initial controversy. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and starting to win games.”
