A man from Australia who jumped across a fence and touched Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been deported and prohibited from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, aged 26, was handed a penalty to more than a week in detention for disrupting public order and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority informed news outlets.

Wen pushed past photographers and rushed toward the celebrity, who was attending the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on 13 November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

Wen has a history of disrupting concerts and celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the pop star's Australian show in the past June.

The incident caused anger in Singapore, with many claiming he of re-traumatising Grande.

The celebrity has spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a explosive incident at her concert in the English city in May 2017 killed 22 people and hurt numerous attendees.

In the legal process, the court heard he had made efforts to breach on the movie's debut multiple times, according to local news sources.

He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Security staff prevented him and pinned him down.

The man subsequently shared videos expressing gratitude to the star for allowing his presence and said he was "at liberty."

Law enforcement arrested him the subsequent day and charged him with public nuisance, to which he confessed.

The District Judge Christopher Goh was referenced by Channel News Asia as saying that he was looking for publicity, noting that he was incorrect to believe he would not suffer any consequences.

The actress has not addressed the incident.

The co-star spoke about the incident to the press, remarking that she "only aimed to make sure my friend was secure."

"I'm sure he had no intention to us harm, but you cannot be certain with such situations, and I wanted to make sure that she was alright. That was my immediate response," she commented.
