Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Accolades.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season.
The 27-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of Consistency
Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Achievements
Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and collected a record £11m in prize money.
She earned almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".
Additional WTA Award Winners
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking 13-month break following the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
- Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after making five finals.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
