The Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown Against defending champion Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Houston Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team reached their first Fall Classic following the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.
Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh, propelling the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the forthcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, Toronto, Canada," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now connected for 23 October home runs, placing him third in history behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another person anywhere that I'd choose in that situation other than Springer with his October magic," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the sole team that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it hurts" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts throughout the year.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this game," he continued.
The Blue Jays won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on this Friday.
