The East African nation Receives Cultural Items Following a Century Holding in a German Family
Around Twelve ancient artefacts were formally given back to the Ethiopian nation after staying by a family in Germany for in excess of 100 years.
The treasures, originally acquired in the 1920's by Germany's diplomat to the Ethiopian empire Franz Weiss and his wife Hedwig, were delivered on midweek to the Institute of Ethiopian Studies at the capital's university.

"These items continue to stand as a symbol of the enduring and amicable connection between the German nation and the Ethiopian people," stated Germany's envoy, Germany's envoy to Ethiopia.

He said that the family's aim to restore the treasures was to "showcase their beauty with the public and preserve the heritage and history tied to my father's beginning."

"We would like to express gratitude to the Weiss family for actively showing their sincere appreciation for Ethiopia by carefully preserving these artifacts and crucially ensuring their homecoming to their legitimate homeland," said the tourism minister.
The minister continued that the pieces would soon be made accessible to the public for research and educational purposes, terming the move a landmark in protecting the nation's cultural heritage.
"Actions persist to bring back old objects that are held in the hands of individuals and organizations around the globe," the minister affirmed.
