Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
βThe boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,β Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.β
His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans offered condolences for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
